Warren County Recycleathon
Planning & Zoning Director, Dan Glotz, has worked diligently to bring a major recycling event to Warren County to collect household hazardous waste and electronic waste. The Commissioner’s Office has worked in conjunction with Dan Glotz to help facilitate the effort to promote the event and bring attention to the effort of recycling a wider range of materials in the county. The culmination of that effort is a one day, comprehensive recycling event to be held on October 15th from 9:00am to 1:00pm in the southwest corner of the Warren Mall parking lot, across from the former Kmart storefront.
The collection services will be provided by Environmental Coordination Services & Recycling (ECS&R) from Cochranton, PA, which handles a variety of household hazardous waste and electronic waste. All collections on that day are by appointment only. Interested citizens must call 866-815-0016 to make an appointment or go to www.ecsr.net and make an appointment online prior to the event. Citizens will declare what items they are bringing to recycle and the fee will be calculated appropriately. No appointments will be made the day of the event, nor will materials be taken without an appointment. The fees are relative to the type of item being brought and its weight.
Electronics to be collected include computers, televisions, printers, microwaves, stereos, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, air conditioners, and numerous other electronic items. Household hazardous waste items can include aerosols, pool chemicals, paints, gasoline and other fuels, propane tanks, batteries, light bulbs, antifreeze, and a variety of other items. Items that should not be brought include explosives, radioactive materials, ammunition, medical waste, tires, and syringes. Those items will not be accepted. For a complete list of all acceptable items as well as the fees associated with them, go to www.warrencountypa.net/recyclingday or call the Commissioner’s office at 814-728-3402 for more information.
The County Commissioners would like to thank the owner of the Warren Mall complex, Kelly Cocca, for her generous donation of space in the parking lot for this event. Having appropriate space, free of charge, for an event like this is a great public service and should be recognized as such.
The event is at no cost to the county. The only fees are the fees paid directly to ECS&R for collecting the waste materials.
