MEMORIAL DAY 2017
WHEREAS, May 29, 2017, is Memorial Day, a day set aside to remember those who have given their lives to keep the torch of freedom burning brightly for more than two centuries to serve as a beacon of hope for people here at home and around the world, and;
WHEREAS, we still believe today that the blessings of liberty require constant vigilance and sacrifice and, every man, woman and child in this great Nation owes a debt of gratitude to those who served their country so selflessly in events that reshaped the world and that these brave soldiers, sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and airmen, were the beloved sons and daughters of our land, and;
WHEREAS, countless Americans have made the supreme sacrifice, laying down their lives so others could be free.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that May 29, 2017, is set aside in Warren County for the purpose of remembering our fallen comrades and to celebrate the contributions and sacrifices of these men and women who placed their lives in harms way protecting freedom and fighting to preserve democracy, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the observance of Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, appropriately commemorates historical events and expresses gratitude to those who gave so much for their fellow citizens.
ADOPTED THIS 24th day of May, 2017.
